Marketing with a Trifold Card
Marketing Trends from The Incentive Show, No. 5.
Here’s a trend that matches Flora’s request for a “low-cost incentive item…that could be included in an envelope.”
It’s unfortunate that you must be in the mode of picking up free materials very quickly from each booth. That’s because everyone else is in pick-up mode.
No one want to miss out on whatever’s on the table. Then you walk away, put it in your bag, and sort it all out when you get back to the office.
That’s what happened when I picked up the sample gift cards at the Allstate Printing & Graphics booth. They create custom gift cards and gift card packaging. What got my attention, more than that, was their business card.
It’s a trifold card with their name, phone number, and logo on the front panel. Details about what they sell and the benefits of working with them are found on the three inside panels.
The two remaining outside panels provide a bulleted list of everything they make. The entire card is laminated, making it indestructible.
This is a superb way to inform, educate, and sell. It’s terrific to give away without being “over the top” when meeting someone face to face, yet compact enough to mail by itself or include with orders or other literature.
I called Allstate for pricing and details on how to have these cards made. The quoted price is $500 for 5,000 cards. Ten cents per card? What an incredible deal. But it can’t be all gravy.
My contact said that a designer has to create the card in the manner specified by Allstate, which is explained in a document they Emailed to me. That’s the only part I don’t like, but sometimes you must fight the control gene within your solo business body and look for an outside party to help with the work.
Allstate can’t be the only company who makes trifold business cards. I searched the Internet for other sources but cannot find any. For such a job, you can either work with Allstate and a designer of your choosing, or you can create a trifold business card mockup, take it to a local commercial printer or graphic designer, and work with that source.
I met a woman at a business meeting who qualifies to do this work and will approach her to help me. If you also believe that this trifold business card is too good not to have in your marketing arsenal, add this to your project list and move on it swiftly.
This entry concludes our week-long series on Marketing Trends from The Incentive Show. I hope that one of the trends moves you closer to your goals.

This trifold card is clever. Thanks for sharing it with us. I can see where this card would stand out from all the others business folks collect.
The card is indeed a specialty. I hope that anyone looking to distribute something similar can find a printer who’s willing and able to create the product.
