Credibility Increases Marketing Potential

A good friend forwarded me an Email she received last week.

The Email included a video narrated by a person who provided ideas on boosting Web site credibility. The options he shared focused on encouraging your site’s visitors to become more confident, leading to increased purchases of products and services.

Here’s a list of some of the options he mentioned.

1. Offering live support. You’ve no doubt seen Web sites that include a live customer support feature. If you have a question, you click on the “live support” button. A new browser window opens, and you can immediately speak with a person who will provide answers.

Live support options to add to your site are found by typing the words “live support” into a search engine. I also look for the emblem on another site to see what they use.

A live support feature is also possible through using free products such as Skype or Google Talk, as long as the other person has access to each option.

2. Adding a Trust-E, Better Business Bureau, or local chamber of commerce emblem. These symbols tell visitors that your site has either been reviewed by the emblem provider or that you are a member of their trusted organization.

There is a fee associated with joining all three, so the emblem should not be added to your site unless you have legally joined.

3. Posting credit card logos. Add these symbols if you offer payment by credit card.

4. Adding the words, “24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year” to your site. Visitors need this reminder when they arrive on site or when reviewing the order page.

Credibility increases the chance to make a strong connection with people who are ready to buy your product or service. Anything you can do to strengthen the initial introduction will make getting the sale easier.
