Microsites Manage Your Content
In February, I commented on an article about microsites and how big companies use them to promote specific products and services.
It’s still a project worth your consideration. Microsites can bring more prominence to the business segments you offer.
Because I’m at the forefront of the gift basket industry and have developed lots of data, I decided to create a microsite to complement my Gift Basket Business Web site. The planning stage showed me that two microsites were better than one.
Gift Basket Tutorials allows me to show techniques by video and encourage sales of my DVDs. So far, the plan has worked to my satisfaction.
Gift Basket Articles is a collection of original, evergreen data that promotes my two best-selling books. Putting dozens of articles on the main site is too cumbersome, and that’s why I’ve created a separate site for this material.
The bottom line is this: Why have just one site when several will broaden your reach? This is the same logic used for creating and distributing several types of business cards. A photo of my numerous cards accompanies this post.
If your business resembles a large pie, perhaps it’s time to slice it into smaller pieces so that prospects can find you no matter what term they research. That’s what I believe my microsites will accomplish over time. The same may work for you if a microsite is in your future.

Project Planning Video
People who don’t work at home believe that business comes easy for us.
The thought of earning a living in the same place you in which reside seems glamorous. But we have no time to explain the many tasks we perform each day.
One of those tasks is tracking marketing campaigns from idea to completion. In the past I’ve mentioned the problem I’ve had tracking my projects so that I know at a glance its mission, objectives, and results.
This part of business is predestined when you work for someone else, but when you’re on your own, it’s the crucial component that ensures your livelihood.
After several attempts to find a workable project sheet, I created my own, which I’ve added to this page in abbreviated format and explain through video. Preparation of this sheet lets me determine whether my vision will flourish or fail. I’m better able to plan my projects and track each campaign because there’s something concrete for me to review and update as the project moves forward.
Perhaps you plan better using a computer-based program. In 17 years I’ve learned the importance of maintaining a hard copy in case of malfunctions. Consider placing a print version of your plan in a binder a back up.
Project planning, whether on paper or buy computer, ensures the results you desire for long-term success. The only foreseeable problem is convincing people who don’t work at home that it takes an incredible amount of determination to make what you do look easy.
