Seven Methods for Email Marketing

Email marketing connects you with clientsBtoB recently published their Interactive Marketing Guide 2008, which details how businesses are connecting with clients through various channels.

One statistical chart that I found of interest was the Reasons that U.S. Marketers Use E-Mail Marketing. Here’s the breakdown.

  • Send newsletters - 80 percent
  • Drive sales - 78.8 percent
  • Enhance customer relationships - 70.6 percent
  • Increase upsell or cross-sell opportunities - 67.1 percent
  • Increase brand awareness and/or lift - 64.7 percent
  • Reactivate dormant customers - 52.9 percent
  • Send transactional messages - 50.6 percent
  • I found it interesting that reactivating dormant customers would be an Email function. That’s a process I find better served through letter or postcard.

In my snail mail, I tell past clients about new sections on my Web site and encourage them to subscribe to my online newsletter, which hopefully generates interest and a new subscription.

Which of these Email marketing reasons makes the top of your list, and which ones did you not consider until reading it here?
